Exploring Churches In Abids

About the walk

Abids, one of the oldest and most popular market areas of Hyderabad is home to some of the most historic churches of the city. These churches were built at different points in time and add to the diverse culture and architectural beauty of Hyderabad.

The walk begins with exploration of Centenary Methodist Church at Chapel Road and then moves onto Seventh Day Adventist, Stanley Schools, St Joseph Cathedral. The participants will conclude the walk at St. George’s Church, Grammar High School near Chermas.

The walk distance would be approximately 700 meters, with the occasional stop at some of the other iconic landmarks of Abids.

Mohd. Abdul Nayeem
Mohammad Abdul Nayeem holds a Ph.D. in Management and teaches Organisational Behavior. He loves Urdu prose and poetry, Indian art and architecture, movies and music. Born and brought up in Hyderabad, he has extensive knowledge of the city's heritage, history, and legacy. He loves to share the stories of Hyderabad's lanes, mohallas, and tehzeeb (etiquette). He also volunteers at Lamakaan, an open cultural space in Hyderabad.
