About the walk

Explore the synthesis of traditional Gujarati haveli architecture with colonial influences through the heritage house of Jagdip Mehta located at Khadia, in the heart of Ahmedabad. This heritage house is one of its kind as the Mehta family still resides here and it has been a living household for 200 years.

This heritage house has been awarded as the best maintained heritage house by GIHED in 2011 and has won the best heritage home stay in 2016-17and 2019-20 respectively by Gujarat Tourism.

Reading narratives is not enough to know about this exquisite heritage house. Experience Gujarati woodwork, stucco, traditional 'pol' culture and find out the meaning of words like 'Todlo', 'Dhumdiyu' ,'Tanka', 'Paniyaru' , ' Baarshak ' 'Dokabari' for yourself as we take a stroll through the Mehta Haveli.

  • As it is a pol area, parking for four wheelers is not avaible, and the space for two wheelers is very limited. To avoid inconvenience, kindly use hired/public transport.
