Celebrating Women’s Day - An Unique Shillong Food Walk

About the walk

The You and I Arts Cafe, located at Mawroh-Mawtawar Road, Shillong, was started by Mr Wanphai Nongrum in 2016.

The You and I arts cafe  that showcases local musical instruments and pottery specimens made by local women of the Larnai village. These potteries are used for cooking and preparing the traditional Khasi cuisines. The cafe serves more than 140 varieties of tea and five traditional teas like Jajew (Rosella), Elephant’s apple tea, Sha Soh Krot, Snake Grass tea, etc, and traditional Khasi foods like Putharo, Ja stem, Doh Nei iong, Pudoh, Pu saw, Ja shawlia, Phan with Tungtap, steamed Yam with local honey, Syrwa Kjat Sniang, and so on. The cafe also encourages visitors to play traditional Khasi games like Mawkorkatia, Khla Bam Blang, Sohtyngkoh, Siat Sbai, Mawkynting, Dieng Ia Peh, etc. 

The cafe is also known to organise workshops and is a space for learning where people can gather to learn different art forms local to the region. A unique experience where traditional food, music, art, and games come together.

This is a custom walk for the students of St. Mary's College, Shillong. This walk is not open to others.
