Situated at the cantonment area of Meerut, the Augarnath temple holds great historical significance as the Revolt of 1857 began here on the 10th of May. The temple also has cultural significance; local legend believes that the Shiva Linga embedded in this temple emerged on its own accord!     

Join me on this temple walk around Meerut and get to know about the Revolt of 1857, the saint who asked Indian soldiers to destroy the British Army, the significance of Shiva Linga and why the temple is also known as ‘Kali Paltan Temple’.
