An Inspirational Journey of a Brave Queen: Ahilyabai Holkar

About the walk

Lokmata, Rajmata, Virangana, Punyashlok, Devi, Gangajal Nirmal, Matoshri, so many titles and just one name: Ahilyabai Holkar. A woman who changed the course of history in so many ways that even after centuries she is ardently worshiped by multiple generations of Indore.

In this digital walk, we go back to the era when child marriage was prevalent in India and hence, Devi Ahilyabai entered the Holkar as a daughter-in-law at the tender age of 8. Unknown to her that, by the age of 28 she will be a widow. What happened after this, changed the course of history and broke many stereotypes.

This digital walk explores her journey from Ahilya to Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar.
