Saree Weavers of Mominpura

About the walk

The nine-yard long Kashta saree is a traditional Maharashtrian attire. Women have fought wars in the past wearing it, and even today, it’s a part of their daily attire in rural areas.

Mominpura in Nagpur is home to weavers who specialise in this kind of saree. On this walk, we will not only witness the making of this nine-yard-long saree but will also acquaint ourselves with its history. Added attractions include a visit to the Badi Jama Masjid in Mominpura, and savouring the famous dudh (milk) tea.

This guided tour is free.
